About Us
EXPERIENCED seamstress
I have sewn for over 45 years. I utilise a variety of tools and techniques to provide efficient repairs and alterations using general and decorative sewing and use of overlocker and cover-stitch machines as well as hand sewing.
I am passionate about reducing landfill by reducing textile wastage.
I use critical problem solving to complete complex alterations/repairs and identification of a wide range of fabric types that are suitable for upcycling.
I opened SewAble in 2019 as a local, eco-conscious, creative and adaptive alteration, repair and upcycle service.

It is our objective to deliver a local alteration, repair and upcycle service using clients existing ready to wear clothing or upcycled fabric.
SewAble is committed to providing a caring service for people of all-abilities utilising innovative, adaptive clothing techniques to promote independent dressing and social inclusion.
SewAble supports the slow clothing movement by extending the life of clothing and fabric by producing creative, accessible and comfortable items in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.

We care about the environment and the reuse of quality textiles to reduce landfill. We are committed to minimising the environmental impact of our operations and our products through the adoption of sustainable practices and continuous improvements in environmental performance. We promote ourselves as a local business that is contributing to and inviting sustainability through upcycling and repairing clothing in our local community.
NDIS Support
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to participants with reasonable and necessary supports to assist them in living an ordinary life. The supports help participants to realise their full potential by increasing independence, inclusion, and social and economic participation. NDIS clients to work towards their goals across the three NDIA support categories:
- Core- activities of daily living, work towards their goals and meet their objectives
- Capital- funding of assistive technologies
- Capacity Building- Enables a participant to build and improve their independence and skills
SewAble provides this service in the form of adaptive clothing alteration or bespoke new clothing makes. The goal is for the client to have more ability to self-dress and have individual choice in clothing that is specific for their individual special needs.
SewAble may work in collaboration with a third-party specialist. The cost is not borne by SewAble but is provided separately by the NDIS client or referral from a third party e.g. occupational therapist or physiotherapist.
SewAble can provide an in-home/facility service for alteration fitting and pick up/delivery of items. Charges are for time and kilometre. IN consultation with the client SewAble can also arrange for a postal service for delivery of items or for repeat same alterations.
SewAble is a registered NDIS Provider.
SewAble provides low-cost assistive technology and supports independence through daily living skills.
